A Visual and Functional Experience Blending Simplicity and Modernity

Camel Step Roastery introduces its latest branch in Al Malqa, Riyadh, offering an inviting space that blends simplicity with modernity. The interior design reflects their ongoing vision of delivering a complete coffee experience that combines high quality with a welcoming atmosphere. The modern and minimalist design of this branch stands out through the use of natural materials, with attention to detail to create a comfortable and attractive environment for visitors

The interior design of this branch reflects the core philosophy of the roastery, which is to create a space that invites comfort through simplicity and elegance. Exposed concrete is used to cover the surfaces, giving the space a modern, unpretentious feel. The natural wood used in tables and bar surfaces complements the concrete with a touch of warmth, creating a balance between cool and warm tones in the space. The choice of these materials is part of the roastery’s identity, reflecting the brand’s desire to move away from overly complicated elements and instead focus on honest, natural materials. This approach connects visitors to an experiential space where materials and textures are part of the story the space tells, without the need for excessive details.

Natural lighting played a key role in the design of this  branch, with large glass windows showcasing the openness to the surrounding environment, allowing for a seamless blend of the interior and exterior. This integration provides visitors with great views and enhances the sense of connection to the surrounding area. During the day, the light flowing through the large windows plays an important role in defining the ambiance of the roastery, helping to create a comfortable and lively environment that naturally changes with the movement of the sun from morning to evening. At night, the focus shifts to well-designed interior lighting to provide the same level of comfort and warmth. The ceiling of the roastery includes a full lightbox that covers the entire space. This light box is a distinctive design feature, casting a soft, balanced light throughout the space, mimicking natural lighting, and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for visitors. This diffused lighting helps the space feel more expansive and enhances the homely atmosphere that the roastery aims to create.

The furniture arrangement in the branch was carefully considered to ensure both comfort and practicality. The small individual tables and modern-designed chairs provide flexibility in seating arrangements to meet the needs of visitors. The long bar also encourages interaction between customers and baristas, enhancing the visitor experience by allowing them to observe the coffee preparation process in detail. The window-side seating provides ideal spots for those who wish to enjoy their drink while looking outside, while the communal tables in the center of the space offer places for gatherings and conversations, showcasing the roastery’s intent to provide a multi-functional space catering to different visitor needs.

By focusing on simple lines and natural materials, the interior design creates a sense of order and harmony. The equipment and tools are displayed clearly and neatly on the bar, giving a sense of direct interaction between the visitor and the preparation process. This transparency reflects the roastery’s philosophy of offering an experience that is straightforward and authentic. Every detail in this branch was chosen to complement the visitor experience, from the calming colors that foster comfort to the functional features like product display shelves designed to blend with the general space and not obstruct visitor movement, but rather enhance the experience by providing organized and practical access.

The branch focuses on offering a comprehensive sensory experience, where the visit is not just an opportunity to buy coffee but a full experience that evokes a sense of comfort and renewal. The wooden surface of the tables gives visitors a tangible sense of warmth, while the polished concrete provides a delightful contrast that merges modernity with functionality. This harmonious contrast between different materials makes the space feel inviting and encourages exploration. Even the seating is designed to be comfortable for long use, with soft curves that support the body naturally.
